If you could travel to any place in the world, where would you go and why?
The purpose of today's lesson is to build the heart of encouragement within yourself so that you can endure hardships.
1 Samuel 29: 8-10 NLT 8 “What have I done to deserve this treatment?” David demanded. “What have you ever found in your servant, that I can’t go and fight the enemies of my lord the king?” 9 But Achish insisted, “As far as I’m concerned, you’re as perfect as an angel of God. But the Philistine commanders are afraid to have you with them in the battle.10 Now get up early in the morning, and leave with your men as soon as it gets light.
David was let go from the assignment that he was perfect for. He was let go from the his position. Therefore he had to encourage himself.
Q1 - What assignment do you feel like God has given you?
Q2 - What are some ways that you can encourage yourself? Have you been discouraged in different areas?
God is saying, if you trust me, I will work it all out!
Q3 - Do you have things in your life that need to be worked out? How can you practice trusting God, even when it doesn't make sense?
1 Samuel 30:6 David was in great danger; for the people spoke of stoning him, because all the people were bitter in spirit for their sons and daughters. But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God.
Q4 - Where in your life do you need to begin encouraging yourself, rather than discouraging yourself?
Q5 - "Practice giving God a pre-praise" (this means praising God even before it works out) Things may not be working out for you right now, but how can you begin giving God a pre-praise? What areas do you need to begin praising God, even before it's worked out?
Declaration: "I will praise God, even when the pressure hits! I will fight, even when it get's tough! I will continue to stand, even I feel like I can't stand anymore"
Practice praising God even before things have already worked out. For every battle you face, start by praising God. Use your praise to God as a weapon to conquer what's coming against you.
