“DO YOUR BEST AND GOD WILL DO THE REST”
Why do we need to do our best?
#1 - Because we’re doing it for the Lord.
Ecclesiastes 9:10 ICB 10 Whatever work you do, do your best. This is because you are going to the grave. There is no working, no planning, no knowledge and no wisdom there.
We are called do do all that we can. But when it comes to all that we can’t do, that’s God’s job. Do your very best, and let God do the rest.
Q1 - Do you believe that you give your very best to God?
Q2 - Do you ever feel like you sometimes try and do too much? Or you try and do God’s part?
#2 - Because we have limited time.
EPHESIANS 5:15-16 AMP Therefore see that you walk carefully [living life with honor, purpose, and courage; shunning those who tolerate and enable evil], not as the unwise, but as wise [sensible, intelligent, discerning people], 16 making the very most of your time [on earth, recognizing and taking advantage of each opportunity and using it with wisdom and diligence], because the days are [filled with] evil.
Opportunities always come and go, but the question is are you prepared for the opportunities that are coming your way?
Q3 - What opportunities do you believe God is setting up before you right now?
Q4 - Why do we need to be more urgent about the opportunities that come our way?
#3 - Because God will reward you for it.
Colossians 3:24 ICB 24 Remember that you will receive your reward from the Lord, which he promised to his people. You are serving the Lord Christ. 25 But remember that anyone who does wrong will be punished for that wrong. And the Lord treats everyone the same.
God does not allow someone to go unrewarded for giving their best to Him. It’s a promise.
Q5 - Let’s practice speaking in faith: what is a reward you are hoping and expecting to receive from God?
Q6 - Share about how God has already rewarded you up until this point?
Matthew 26:7-14 AMP 6 Now when Jesus was [back] in Bethany, at the home of Simon the leper, 7 a woman came to Him with an alabaster vial of very expensive perfume and she poured it on Jesus’ head as He reclined at the table. 8 But when the disciples saw it they were indignant and angry, saying, “Why all this waste [of money]? 9 For this perfume might have been sold at a high price and the money given to the poor.” 10 But Jesus, aware [of the malice] of this [remark], said to them, “Why are you bothering the woman? She has done a good thing to Me. 11 For you always have the poor with you; but you will not always have Me. 12 When she poured this perfume on My body, she did it to prepare Me for burial. 13 I assure you and most solemnly say to you, wherever this gospel [of salvation] is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be told in memory of her [for her act of love and devotion].”
How do we know we are giving our best?
1. We ask ourselves “what is the best I can do?” And say yes to the answer.
2. People think we’re crazy
Q7 - Have you ever had someone tell you that you’re going a little overboard? If so, explain.
3. We’re excited to give it.
Q8 - When you give, are you filled with joy? Why do you think that is?
new Care Project of the Month: christmas gift for inner city children
Every year, The Way World Outreach becomes a place of hope for parents with little boys and little girls who want a gift this Christmas. Many of our families in the inner city can’t afford to give their children gifts for Christmas. Let’s cover that cost and make sure no child goes without experiencing the joy of a gift this Christmas.
Each Group’s goal is 50 gifts! (each gift is roughly $10 a piece)
1. Download The Way World Outreach App
Then Click Give
Select "Care Group Offering" fund
Write down the group leader's name
Father, help me to give my very best in everything that I do! I want to honor you in my time, in my finances, in my work ethic, and in my attitude. Give me joy when I give to others. I want to give with a cheerful heart. Thank you Lord! In Jesus Name, amen!
If you have not been able to give towards the pledge, you still have time! If you have, but you feel like you can do more, there is still time! Let’s give our best this year! (When giving on the church app, select “Pledge” fund)
Note for Leaders: Take prayer requests and praise reports. Keep a good record of this. Follow up on prayer requests and celebrate praise reports.
