What’s the best thing that’s happened to you this week?
The purpose of today's lesson is to get to know the Holy Spirit better, and to understand the gifts that He has given each of us.
1 Corinthians 12:4-11 NLT
4 There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit is the source of them all. 5 There are different kinds of service, but we serve the same Lord. 6 God works in different ways, but it is the same God who does the work in all of us.
7 A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other. 8 To one person the Spirit gives the ability to give wise advice[a]; to another the same Spirit gives a message of special knowledge.[b] 9 The same Spirit gives great faith to another, and to someone else the one Spirit gives the gift of healing. 10 He gives one person the power to perform miracles, and another the ability to prophesy. He gives someone else the ability to discern whether a message is from the Spirit of God or from another spirit. Still another person is given the ability to speak in unknown languages,[c] while another is given the ability to interpret what is being said. 11 It is the one and only Spirit who distributes all these gifts. He alone decides which gift each person should have.
"We must seek and ask The Holy Spirit for our spiritual gifts"
Q1 - There are 9 spiritual gifts mentioned in this chapter. Can you name a gift you know the Holy Spirit has given you?
Q2 - You are not excluded from the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Can you name a gift you desire to have from the Holy Spirit?
"Let Love be your Highest goal!" (1 Corinthians 14:1)
Q3 - According to the scripture, Love should be our highest goal. What are ways that you can show love to those in need? (A family member, a friend, a stranger).
Q4 - Although desiring spiritual gifts is something we must do, loving others should our top priority. How can the gifts of the Holy Spirit help you to love others better?
The Holy Spirit is Gods voice.
John 16:13 NKJV However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.
Q5 - Name a time in your life that you heard the Holy Spirit's voice. (Through the word, through conviction, etc.)
Q6 - Ignoring the Holy Spirit's voice means ignoring God's voice. How can we get better at listening to the Holy Spirit's voice right away, instead of ignoring his voice?
Declaration: "I will live with Holy Spirit as my guide! I will seek the Holy Spirit for the gifts He gives, and I will walk in them so that I can love others better!"
Practice spending time with the Holy Spirit. Spend an appointed time of prayer with God, and ask the Holy Spirit for the gifts that you desire. Then be alert for the opportunities the Holy Spirit leads you to use your gifts to love somebody in need.
