Icebreaker: We are well into the summer. What exciting summer adventures have you had so far?
Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to learn how important it is to wait for God and trust in Him during the process. It's not over yet.
Acts 9:40 NLT But Peter asked them all to leave the room; then he knelt and prayed. Turning to the body he said, "Get up, Tabitha." And she opened her eyes! When she saw Peter, she sat up!
Discussion: It seems like in life, all things that are worth having, we must wait for. No one with a successful life got it over night. There are things that we must wait for in life in order to see it come to pass fully.
Q1 - Do you have an area of your life that you're "in the process"?
Q2 - Is there something good in your life that you've given up?
What to do when you feel stuck
1. Get into the right mindset
There are always 2 mindsets that will try to take control when you feel stuck: just prepare for the worst or trust God. There is going to be a temptation to give up when things aren't going the way you want them to go. The right mindset creates the right perspective about things.
Q3 - What areas in your life have you just accepted the status quo?
Q4 - Why is it so important to change your mindset when you feel like you can't change the situation?
Q5 - How challenging is it to trust God when everything else is falling apart? But Is it possible? Is it worth it?
2. Remind yourself that it is all part of the process
During the process, god is trying to give you His heart. God is not through with you yet, no matter how hard the process is.
Genesis 50:20 You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people.
Q6 - Why is it better to stay with the process rather than just giving up?
Q7 - Do you feel like quitting something in your life that you should continue to fight for?
3. Command your dead situation to resurrect and come back to life.
Peter started on his knees in prayer. Every resurrection begins on your knees in prayer! Without prayer, there is no coming back to life.
Q8 - Name something that you need God to being back to life. It could be your finances, a lost family member, your passion, etc.
Declaration: I will wait on God! I will trust God during the process! I will not give up! God give me your heart, and help me to stay strong in the middle of the process.
Application: Anytime you feel like giving up this week, stop and pray. Don't make any decisions under stress or pressure. Instead pray about it, and thank God for the process. See Philippians 4:6 NLT
