Ice Breaker

If money were not an issue, what would you do and why?

Overcoming: to get the better of in a struggle or conflict; to conquer, to defeat an enemy, a weakness, a temptation, to prevail over, have victory.

There are specific promises in scripture that God gives us. He desires that we walk in all of these promises. However, in order to do that, there are certain actions that we must do. Every promise comes with an action. Let’s take a look at 5 of the promises of God. We’re going to look at 5 different verses and work together to identify the promise in each scripture and the actions required to begin walking in that promise. LET’S BEGIN!

Promise #1

Jeremiah 29:11-13 (NIV) 11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

Q1 - Can you identify the promise in the scripture above?

Q2 - What actions are required to begin walking in this promise?

Promise # 2

James 1:5-8 (NLT) 5 If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. 6 But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. 7 Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. 8 Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do.

Q3 - Can you identify the promise in the scripture above?

Q4 - What actions are required to begin walking in this promise?

Promise # 3

Matthew 7:7-8 (NLT) 7 “Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.

Q6 - What actions are required to begin walking in this promise?

Promise # 4

Joshua 1:8 (NLT) Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.

Q7 - Can you identify the promise in the scripture above?

Q8 - What actions are required to begin walking in this promise?

Promise # 5

Matthew 17:20 (AMP) 20 He answered, “Because of your little faith [your lack of trust and confidence in the power of God]; for I assure you and most solemnly say to you, [a]if you have [living] faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and [if it is God’s will] it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.

Q9 - Can you identify the promise in the scripture above?

Q10 - What actions are required to begin walking in this promise?

There are 3 different mindsets that we can walk in when it comes to our finances. 2 are negative, and 1 is positive. Let’s take a look at each of those mindsets and dissect each of them.

Goal of this mindset: To keep any and all of God’s blessings from getting to you!

The spirit of poverty is fear and stress driven.

Matthew 6:31-32 NLT So don’t worry about these things, saying, What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ 32 These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs.

Q11 - What are some fearful or stressful thoughts you may have had lately?

Q12 - What are some things you can start believing and declaring so that you no longer live by fear or stress?

Q13 - Share a time in your life that you’ve had to overcome stress and fear.

Goal of this mindset: if it can’t keep you from getting it, then it will focus on stopping you from giving it!

The spirit of Mammon desires to be the lord of our lives, is greed driven, and will only lead to a cursed life.

Matthew 6:24 NKJV "No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.

Q14 - Name some ways that you can avoid falling into this mindset.

Goal of this mindset: fortifies and strengthens your giving and receiving.

The Kingdom mindset is God’s mindset. This mindset breaks the spirit of poverty and mammon from our lives, including all the curses that came with it! We walk in this Kingdom mindset with our faith, with our giving, and with our obedience.

2 Corinthians 8:9 NLT You know the generous grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that by his poverty he could make you rich.

Q15 - Why is walking with the Kingdom Mindset so important for our lives and those around us?

In the month of May, we will continue our Care Project to work together as a group to get rid of 5 bricks towards the down payment of the building. 1 brick represents $500 that goes towards the down payment of our building and finishing other major initiatives in the church and around the world.

Here’s how to donate:

  1. Download The Way World Outreach App

  2. Click Give

  3. Change the fund to "Care Group Offering"

  4. Write down the group leader's name in memo line

Declaration Prayer:

Father, thank you for helping me overcome the spirit of poverty and mammon! I declare that I will begin walking with the Kingdom Mindset! I will walk with faith, I will walk with a generous heart, and I will walk in obedience. I declare that I will experience prosperity as a result of my obedience Thank you for giving me the strength and grace to do this! In Jesus’ Name, Amen!

Practice walking with a Kingdom Mindset by walking in another level of giving and generosity. Let’s make a commitment to be a cheerful giver, this week and going forward.

Note for Leaders: Take prayer requests and praise reports. Keep a good record of this. Follow up on prayer requests and celebrate praise reports.
