Icebreaker: What did you want to be when you were growing up?

Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to learn how to develop perseverence under pressure.  

Main Scripture: "Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds,because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance." James 1:2-3



Everyone can relate to experiencing hardships in life, and the overwhelming fear of failure can at times drive us to giving up. All too often, these situations drive us to believe we are not capable of moving forward. The reason being is God did not design us to surrender to the pressures of this life, we have been designed to surrender to Him entirely. 

Q1: Do you feel you give up easy?

Q2: When pressure hits do you feel giving up is the only way?

4 Characteristics of a leader who has perseverance 

1. Doesn't Quit

"Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day." 2 Corinthians 4:16

Q3:   Is there something your considering quitting on right now?

Q4: How can you come against the feeling of giving up?


2. Persistance

"Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up." Luke 18:1

Q5:  What do you think will happen if you decide to keep moving forward?


3.WIlling to go through the process to get results 

"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." Galatians 6:9

Q6:  What kind of results will you have if you decide to keep moving forward?

Q7: Do you think your thoughts of quitting are influenced by the pressure that comes with the process? 


4. They Finish what they start

 "For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it?" Luke 14:28

Declaration: I choose to finish what God has started in my life. No thoughts to give up will invade my mind when I feel I am under pressure.
