Ice Breaker

State one of your goals for the New Year!

The purpose of this lesson is to understand the importance of preparation.

Main Scripture

Proverbs 20:4 NLT Those too lazy to plow in the right season will have no food at the harvest.

God has declared 2017 the year of NO LIMITS!! Hallelujah, we receive it! In order to see the manifestation of this Word, we have to prepare. Preparation will help us to recognize doors of opportunity, see victory in battle, and overcome every obstacle that the enemy may throw at us this year. Every great leader in the Bible had a season of preparation. This is our season. The harvest is for everybody, but only the prepared get to participate.

Q1- What areas of your life is God asking you to be more prepared?

Q2-  Preparation can become difficult and mundane. Discuss how the benefits of preparation outweigh the difficulties.

Q3- One of the enemy's greatest tactics is distraction. How can we stay focused, while we are awaiting God's promises?

• There is a time to prepare

Proverbs 6:6-8 Go to the ant, O lazy one; Observe her ways and be wise. 7. Which, having no chief, overseer or ruler, 8. She prepares her food in the summer and brings in her provisions [of food for the winter] in the harvest.

Lazy - A person who is habitually inactive. One who doesn't take action when he should.

Q4- Many times what we call "procrastination" is just being lazy. In what area of your life are you habitually inactive?

Q5- There is a constant war between our flesh and our spirit (Gal 5:17). How does living according to your flesh keep you stuck and inactive?

 2.   The spiritually prepared will walk through open doors

Matthew 25:6-12 NLT 6 At midnight they were roused by the shout, ‘Look, the bridegroom is coming! Come out and meet him!’ 7 “All the bridesmaids got up and prepared their lamps. 8 Then the five foolish ones asked the others, ‘Please give us some of your oil because our lamps are going out.' 9 “But the others replied, ‘We don’t have enough for all of us. Go to a shop and buy some for yourselves.' 10 “But while they were gone to buy oil, the bridegroom came. Then those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was locked. 11 Later, when the other five bridesmaids returned, they stood outside, calling, ‘Lord! Lord! Open the door for us!’ 12 “But he called back, ‘Believe me, I don’t know you!

Q6- The wise bridesmaids were expecting the bridegroom to come. Discuss how preparation is an act of our faith.

Q7- How does our lack of preparation limit God?

Q8- The foolish bridesmaids missed the open door. How does preparation sharpen our spiritual senses?

Declaration:  I declare that this is the year of NO LIMITS! I receive everything that God has for me by faith. I will respond to this belief by taking action and preparing for the harvest. I will not be lazy. I will not back down. I will see the goodness of the Lord, because I am obedient to what he is asking me to do. Victory is mine this year. In Jesus Name. Amen!!

If you haven't already, begin to write down your goals for this year. Ask the Holy Spirit to give you the first step in achieving those goals.
