Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to continue our study of how God takes us from one season to the next.
Later on, in the third year of the drought, the Lord said to Elijah, “Go and present yourself to King Ahab. Tell him that I will soon send rain!” ( 1 Kings 18:1 NLT)
Declaration is important, but without action, we will never see our new season. The way we get to a new season is by taking steps of faith in line with our confession. We cannot just talk ourselves into it; we need to take action. The Bible declares that faith without works is dead (James 2:20). Our new season is waiting…let's start walking!
Q1- God told Elijah to "GO" before he saw any change in the seasons. How do our actions prove our faith and trust in God?
Q2- What have you been talking about doing for a long time, that you need to take action on?
1. If we don't take action, we are only fooling ourselves.
But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. (James 1:22 NLT)
Q3- If God cannot move us to take action, He cannot move us into a new season. In what ways do we limit God because of our disobedience?
Q4- One of the definitions of the word "Go" is to die. How does this definition describe what is required for a new season?
2. Every new season comes with instruction
Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do. (Joshua 1:8)
Q5- What happens if we fail to do all that God is asking us to do? How important is the Word of God when we are changing seasons?
3. There are three major obstacles to walking into ur new season:
Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it. (James 4:17)\
Q6- Set an appointment with your next step. What is the next step for you to walk into your new season? When is your appointment?
B. Our present habits/mindsets
So prepare your minds for action and exercise self-control… (1 Pet 1:13 NLT)
Q7- Our present mindset/habits will fight our new season. What is a major mindset or habit that needs to change in your life in order to walk into your new season?
C. Degree of Difficulty
“Father, if you are willing, please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.” (Luke 22:42 NLT)
Q8- Jesus is our greatest example of pressing past suffering. How does suffering prepare us for the great things God has for us?
Declaration: I declare that I am not just a hearer of the Word; I am a doer. I declare that I will be obedient and follow the instructions that God is giving me in the season. I declare that my present circumstances are changing. I am an overcomer; I am a fighter; and I will walk into the new season that God has prepared just for me.
Application: Write down your next step and your appointment time. Link up with someone else in your care group and text each other when your next step is complete!
