The purpose of this lesson is to continue our study on relationships and discover why Unity is so important.

Main Scripture

John 17:21 (NLT) I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one—as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. And may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent me.

Jesus and the Father were inseparable. They were so unified, that Jesus proclaimed,  "if you've seen me, you've seen the Father" (John 14:9).  Before He left the earth, Jesus prayed that His church would experience that same type of oneness. Oneness in our churches, and oneness in our homes. This level of unity acts as a beautiful reflection of the Image of God in the earth and Satan wants more than anything to destroy that image. If Jesus prayed for it, then we need to receive it, and believe that we can walk in the same level of Unity that Jesus had with Father God.

Q1- Do you believe the we can walk in the same level of oneness that the Father has with Jesus? How might that be possible?

Q2-  Why is Unity such a threat to the enemy?

Q3- How can we fight to keep unity in our church, and in our homes?

John 17:23 (NLT) I am in them and you are in me. May they experience such perfect unity that the world will know that you sent me….

Q4- The evidence that Jesus came, is the unity that we walk in as a church. Why do you think that God places so much importance on relationships?

Q5- Who loses when the church, and our marriages are in discord?

John 17:23 (NLT)  I am in them and you are in me. May they experience such perfect unity that the world will know that you sent me and that you love them as much as you love me.

Q6- In what practical ways, can we show the people around us, God's love?

Q7- Discuss the impact our unity has on the next generation?

3. People will see God

John 17:24 (NLT) Father, I want these whom you have given me to be with me where I am. Then they can see all the glory you gave me because you loved me even before the world began!

Q8 -  We are the living, breathing reflection of God in the earth. If people are looking for God, they should find Him in us. How does this change our perspective about the decisions that we make everyday?

Declaration: I declare that I walk in unity with my family and with my church. I declare that I will reflect the love of God through my actions and attitude. I choose to forgive everyone that has offended me. I choose to lay down my desire to be right, for the sake of unity. I will fight for peace in my home and in my church.
