Ice Breaker

Who was your role model when you were a child?

The purpose of today's lesson is to get to know who the Holy Spirit is. Today we will better understand specific characteristics and roles of the Holy Spirit.

Main Scripture

1 John 5:7 NKJV For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one.

"The Holy Spirit was there from the beginning (the Holy Spirit is God)"

Q1 -  Can you name a friend who has been in your life from the beginning?

Read Genesis 1:1-2

Q2 - This scripture shows the earth was without form. Is there an area of your life that is without form? In other words, is there a an area of your life that lacks clarity, structure, or peace?

The Holy Spirit was hovering over the dark and formless earth. He didn't begin forming the earth until the word was spoken to move.

Q3 - The Holy Spirit is hovering over your situation and waiting for a word to intervene. What's one area of your life that you can begin speaking and releasing the Spirit to intervene?

Through the Holy Spirit is how we hear God, see God, and feel God.

Q4 - Some evidence of the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives is being able to experience the presence of God (hear, see, feel). Do you feel like you're walking in the power of the Holy Spirit? How can you grow more in this?

Q5- The Holy Spirit moved in great power to form the earth. How does it effect the way you see life to know that the same power that formed the earth is the same power that lives inside of you?

Power (dunamis): strength, supernatural ability, power for performing miracles, influence.

Q6 - Name an area of your life that you need the Holy Spirit to manifest His dunamis power.

Q7 - After understanding more about who the Holy Spirit is, will you allow his power to move through you at a greater level?

Declaration: "I declare that my life will be led by the Holy Spirit. I declare that I will walk with the Holy Spirit's power in every area of my life, and that I will call upon the Lord to intervene."

Use this week to call upon the Holy Spirit in your life. Whenever you encounter a dilemma, call upon the Holy Spirit to intervene in your situation. Allow the power of the Holy Spirit to move in you, so that you can make a small impact on someone this week.
