TODAY’S PASSAGE:
1 Corinthians 11:20-26 NLT
20 When you meet together, you are not really interested in the Lord’s Supper.”21 For some of you hurry to eat your own meal without sharing with others. As a result, some go hungry while others get drunk.”22 What? Don’t you have your own homes for eating and drinking? Or do you really want to disgrace God’s church and shame the poor? What am I supposed to say? Do you want me to praise you? Well, I certainly will not praise you for this!”23 For I pass on to you what I received from the Lord himself. On the night when he was betrayed, the Lord Jesus took some bread” 24 and gave thanks to God for it. Then he broke it in pieces and said, This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” 25 “In the same way, he took the cup of wine after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant between God and his people—an agreement confirmed with my blood. Do this in remembrance of me as often as you drink it.” 26 For every time you eat this bread and drink this cup, you are announcing the Lord’s death until he comes again.”

Communion brings us all together to honor Jesus.
- Communion (koinōnia): fellowship, joint participation, sharing and intimacy
- Communion is a collective event that we do together in order to reflect and remember that Jesus died on the cross for our sins.
- It's crucial to remind ourselves of that sacrifice.
- We should not treat this moment lightly, but it should be taken seriously with love for God and for others.

Communion helps us remember that Jesus paid the ultimate sacrifice.
- When we take the bread it symbolizes the body of Jesus Christ that was beaten for our sins.
Isaiah 53:5 “But He was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be made whole. He was whipped so we could be healed.”
- Jesus willingly gave up his body so that we could be made whole and be healed.
- We can confidently receive healing knowing that Jesus paid the price for it!
Ephesians 1:7 NLT He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins.
- The cup symbolizes the blood of Jesus Christ, which was the ultimate sacrifice for our sins.
- Jesus willingly gave up his life so that we could live!

Communion helps us proclaim Jesus’ love to the world.
- Proclaim: announce officially or publicly.
- When we take communion, we’re making a public confession of our belief that Jesus made the ultimate sacfice for our sin.
- Communion reminds us of Jesus dying on the cross for our sins. It's crucial to remind ourselves of that sacrifice.
- We are also proclaiming that we beleive he will come back again.
