TODAY’S PASSAGE:

Romans 8:31-34 NLT 31 What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? 32 Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else? 33 Who dares accuse us whom God has chosen for his own? No one—for God himself has given us right standing with himself. 34 Who then will condemn us? No one—for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honor at God’s right hand, pleading for us.

INTERACTIVE QUESTIONS

What did you learn from what we just read?

TRUTH #1

 God is for us!

Romans 8:31-32 NLT 31 What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? 32 Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else?

  • It’s a part of life that we go through spiritual battles and fight spiritual enemies. But with God, there is no enemy or battle that can overtake us
  • When God is for us, that means that the Champion is fighting our battles!
  • We have ulitimate vicotry in Him!
  • You should be convinced when you feel overwhelmed, stretched, experience a loss, or just don’t know what to do next that God is protecting you and making provision for you. He is there to guide you through it all adn give you everything that you need.

Philippians 4:19 NLT - And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.

INTERACTIVE QUESTIONS

When was the last time you were overwhelmed by a particular circumstance and could not see your way out? How did your faith in God help you to navigate through that experience?

TRUTH #2

God has made us Righteous!

Romans 8:33 Who dares accuse us whom God has chosen for his own? No one—for God himself has given us right standing with himself.

  • All of us have a past of sin and shameful decisions we’ve made. The Bible says that we have all fallen short of God’s standard.
  • The devil will lead you into sin and then accuse you for doing it.
  • Regardless of the accusations made against us, we have been forgiven by God.
  • The accuser (the devil) has no power over us because we have been declared righteous.

Zechariah 3:2 NLT - And the Lord said to Satan, “I, the Lord, reject your accusations, Satan. Yes, the Lord, who has chosen Jerusalem, rebukes you. This man is like a burning stick that has been snatched from the fire.”

INTERACTIVE QUESTIONS

Think about a time when you felt guilt or shame for something in your past. How does knowing that God has made you righteous and rejects the accusations of the devil, as stated in Romans 8:33 and Zechariah 3:2, change the way you view yourself and your past?

TRUTH #3

Jesus is pleading for us!

  • Condemn: sentence someone to death in judgement.
  • There is no one that can condemn us because we have been declared righteous by God.
  • Jesus died in our place for our sin, but was also raised to life so he could give us life.
  • Now Jesus continues to care for us in heaven by pleading for us.

Romans 8:1 NLT - So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.

INTERACTIVE QUESTIONS

How do you feel about going to God, now that you know you have Christ standing with you and that you are no longer condemned?

CLOSING QUESTION
