GROWTH QUESTION #3

What was your most important accomplishment this week?

Colossians 2:15 (NLT) - In this way, he disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross.

introduction

  • Jesus has already won the victory over Satan through the cross!
  • Satan can still tempt and accuse us, but he cannot undo what Jesus accomplished.
  • We stand in Christ's victory by humbling ourselves before God, rejecting lies, and trusting what Jesus has done for us.

INTERACTIVE QUESTION

Can you share a time when believing something that was not true affected how you felt or acted? What changed when you learned the truth?

TRUTH #1

HUMILITY ENABLES US TO STAND IN VICTORY!

James 4:6-7 (NLT) - And he gives grace generously. As the Scriptures say, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

  • Scripture reveals that Satan’s first and most offensive sin against God was pride.
  • It was pride that caused Satan to be defeated and cast out of heaven.
  • Isaiah 14:12-14 (NLT) - 12 How you are fallen from heaven… You have been thrown down to the earth… 13 For you said to yourself, "I will ascend to heaven and set my throne above God's… and be like the Most High."
  • Pride says, “I know better than God.”
  • Today, the devil tempts us to fall into the same trap of pride that captured him.
  • “The devil is still selling the same thing that got him kicked out of heaven!” - Pastor Christian De La Rosa
  • Resisting the devil begins with humbling ourselves before God, accepting His Word, admitting when we are wrong, and obeying Him.
  • Humility is the antidote to the devil’s attack.
  • Relying on God and trusting in Him instead of ourselves is what leads us to victory!

INTERACTIVE QUESTION

Why is it sometimes hard to admit we are wrong?

TRUTH #2

THE BATTLEFIELD IS YOUR MIND!

2 Corinthians 10:3-5 (NLT) - 3 We are human, but we don't wage war as humans do. 4 We use God's mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. 5 We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.

  • The enemy often tempts us to sin with the lie: “It is not that bad.”
  • After you give in, he won’t stop telling you how bad what you did really was!
  • He will constantly accuse us and try to convince us that God has given up on us.
  • He lies before the sin, and he lies after it happens. Both lies are meant to draw us away from God.
  • That’s why 2 Corinthians tells us to examine our thoughts and bring them into obedience to Christ.
  • A lie we repeatedly accept can become a stronghold: a false belief that shapes our decisions and keeps us from trusting God.
  • We take our thoughts captive by comparing them to God's Word, rejecting anything that contradicts what God says, and choosing to believe and obey His truth.

INTERACTIVE QUESTION

What are some lies people believe about themselves or God?

tRUTH #3

WE DON’T STAND IN OUR VICTORY - WE STAND IN HIS!

Revelation 12:11 (NLT) And they have defeated him by the blood of the Lamb and by their testimony. And they did not love their lives so much that they were afraid to die.

  • The victory we stand in has nothing to do with our ability to live perfectly or do it all right. Truth be told, we’ve all lost battles to the enemy in the past.
  • But when we repent and trust in Jesus, His blood answers all of the enemy's accusations.
  • Our victory rests completely in what Christ has done for us.
  • When we stand before God, none of us will be able to say that we did it all right, but when we surrender our lives to Jesus, we can say that all our sins have already been paid for!
  • That’s what makes our testimonies so powerful! We don’t pretend we got it altogether, we go everywhere telling others what Jesus has done for us.
  • Sharing how He forgave us, changed us, or helped us points others to His power, and reminds us that Satan’s lies have no power over us!

INTERACTIVE QUESTION

What has Jesus changed in your life?

CLOSING QUESTION

What is one thing you learned today that you want to put into practice this week?

GIVING

The joyous, intentional generosity that springs from a grateful heart reflects the essence of God's love and blesses both the giver and the recipient.

2 Corinthians 9:7 (NLT)

You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.”

Encourage everyone to give their tithes and offerings.
