key #1

DECIDE THAT YOU ARE GOING TO BREAK OLD HABITS AND DEVELOP GODLY ONES

Every lasting change begins with a decision. Before our habits change, our hearts and minds must change. We cannot expect a different life while continuing the same patterns.

Many people focus only on stopping bad habits, but Scripture teaches us to replace them with godly ones. God isn't simply calling us to stop doing wrong, He's calling us to start doing what is right. That is how true transformation takes place.

  • Lasting change begins with a decision to obey God.

  • Godly habits replace ungodly habits; they don't simply remove them.

  • We cannot become the person God wants us to be while holding onto our old way of living.

  • Every spiritual transformation begins with renewing our minds.

Ephesians 4:22-24 (CEV) - "Give up your old way of life with all its bad habits... Let the Spirit change your way of thinking and make you into a new person."

Job 22:28 (NLT) - "You will succeed in whatever you choose to do..."

INTERACTIVE QUESTION

What is one unhealthy habit God is asking you to replace with a godly habit?

key #2

COMMIT TO GIVE THE TIME NEEDED TO DEVELOP A NEW HABIT

Healthy habits are not formed overnight.

The sermon reminds us that real growth takes time, repetition, patience, and consistency. We often want immediate results, but God usually develops us one faithful day at a time. Great habits are built through daily obedience, not occasional inspiration.

Just as a farmer doesn't plant today and harvest tomorrow, we shouldn't expect instant spiritual maturity. The blessing comes to those who continue faithfully without giving up.

Galatians 6:9 (NLT) - "Let's not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don't give up."

  • Spiritual growth is usually slower than we expect.

  • Consistency is more important than intensity.

  • Every small act of obedience is building something bigger than we can see.

  • The habits we practice today determine the person we become tomorrow.

INTERACTIVE QUESTION

Why do you think so many people quit before they begin seeing the results they hoped for?

key #3

PRACTICE DESIRED BEHAVIOR UNTIL IT BECOMES A HABIT

Nobody becomes spiritually mature by accident.

Athletes become great through practice. Musicians become skilled through practice. In the same way, followers of Jesus grow by repeatedly practicing God's Word until obedience becomes part of who they are.

  • God is not looking for occasional obedience. He is developing lifelong faithfulness.

  • As we continue practicing God's Word, our character begins to change. Eventually, what once felt difficult becomes natural because God is transforming us from the inside out.

Philippians 4:9 (NLT) - "Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me... Then the God of peace will be with you."

  • Practice turns knowledge into lifestyle.

  • Spiritual maturity is developed through daily obedience.

  • Godly habits require intentional training.

  • The more we practice God's ways, the more we begin to reflect Christ.

1 Timothy 4:7-8 (NLT) - "Train yourself to be godly."

INTERACTIVE QUESTION

What is one spiritual habit you want to intentionally practice over the next 21 days?

CLOSING QUESTION

Which of these three keys do you need to focus on most right now: making the decision, committing the time, or practicing consistently?

GIVING

Giving God our best unleashes His abundant provision, filling our lives with blessings that overflow and reflect His generosity.

Proverbs 3:9-10 (NLT)
9 Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce. 10 Then he will fill your barns with grain, and your vats will overflow with good wine.

Encourage everyone to give their tithes and offerings.
