HOW TO DEVELOP A PASTOR/MINISTRY LEADER?

1. INVEST A LOT OF TIME WITH THEM.

There is no substitute for our time investment with our top leaders, it is a must. 

  • If we don’t spend time with them, they will never believe we care for them and we will not be able to influence them. 
  • Without investing a substantial amount of time with them, they will do some of the things we tell them to do but they will never trust and become like you. 
  • The leaders we spend time with will become like us when they are fully trained. 
  • Whoever is spending the most time mentoring them will have the greatest influence on them and will become most like. 
  • The ministry will take on our personality through the leaders we develop. ex. If we are loving, kind, and hard working the ministry will also be that, but if we are careless, inconsistent, and worldly so will the ministry be. 
  • The ministry will reflect our values, work ethic, and perspective.

A. TRAINING HAPPENS THROUGH TEACHING AND SHOWING.

Philippians 4:9 (NLT) Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me - everything you heard from me and saw me doing.
Then the God of peace will be with you.

B. WHAT DO WE INVEST OUR TIME IN WITH THEM ?

1) Weekly L.G/D.G meetings:

Planning, Goal setting, training, accountability, celebrating, improving, caring , praying, etc. Build the ministry together with them. Meeting must be consistent or else it won’t work. Every week! 

Illustration: A personal trainer can not meet with you whenever but it must be scheduled and consistent for it to work.

2) Do ministry together:

More is caught than taught. Which means they will learn more by seeing us do it than us talking about it. They do ministry with us.


3) Delegate ministry and Supervise:

We do ministry with them and give feedback.


4) Social meetings, worship and prayer meetings:

These meetings are not business meetings but relationship building meetings.  ex. bbq, bowling, a worship night, a prayer night, a deliverance night, birthday parties, celebrations, etc. . .


5) One on one meetings.


6) Conferences/courses:

A place where we go and learn together and then discuss and apply to our lives and ministry together. Growing together.

Insight: Discipleship is helping think right.
Discipleship: is feeding, caring, developing, delegating, and sending.
