GROWTH QUESTION #3

TODAY’S PASSAGE:

Luke 1:67-75 (NLT) - 67 Then his father, Zechariah, was filled with the Holy Spirit and gave this prophecy: 68 “Praise the Lord, the God of Israel, because he has visited and redeemed his people. 69 He has sent us a mighty Savior from the royal line of his servant David, 70 just as he promised through his holy prophets long ago. 71 Now we will be saved from our enemies and from all who hate us. 72 He has been merciful to our ancestors by remembering his sacred covenant—73 the covenant he swore with an oath to our ancestor Abraham. 74 We have been rescued from our enemies so we can serve God without fear, 75 in holiness and righteousness for as long as we live.

INTERACTIVE QUESTIONS

What’s something you’ve had to wait for that felt like it took
forever—but it was worth it in the end?

Truth #1

BELIEVING GOD CHANGES EVERYTHING!

Luke 1:67 (NLT) – “Then his father, Zechariah, was filled with the Holy Spirit and gave this prophecy:”

  • Zechariah doubted God’s word and was silent for nine months.

  • When he finally believed and publicly agreed with what God said, his mouth was opened, he was filled with the Holy Spirit, and he began to prophesy.

  • His faith-filled, Spirit-led words reveal not only who Jesus is, but why God saves His people.

  • Faith positions us to receive more vision and blessings from God; while unbelief creates resistance and seasons of silence in our lives.

  • Agreement with God’s Word opens our hearts to be filled and led by the Spirit.

  • You can clearly see when someone has been filled with the Spirit by what comes out of their mouth.

Luke 6:45 (NLT) - “...What you say flows from what is in your heart.”

  • When our hearts are filled with faith, our words will reflect hope, confidence, and trust in God.

INTERACTIVE QUESTIONS

Have you ever found yourself in a season of silence, where it felt like God was silent, only to find that you were the one who had put yourself there? How did things begin to change?

Truth #2

JESUS SAVES

Luke 1:68-69 (NLT) - “Praise the Lord, the God of Israel, because he has visited and redeemed his people. 69 He has sent us a mighty Savior…”

  • Jesus is described as a mighty Savior — powerful, victorious, and able to save completely.
  • The coming of Jesus was not sudden or unexpected; it had been anticipated for hundreds of years.
  • God repeatedly promised a Savior through the prophets, generation after generation.
  • Zechariah understood that this moment was the fulfillment of ancient promises.
  • This was not only a turning point for his time, but for all of history — including us today.
  • Jesus fulfills God’s promises perfectly.

Matthew 1:21 (NLT) - “And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.”

  • Jesus saves us from sin — the most dangerous enemy we will ever face.
  • The only way to be saved from sin is to put your faith in Him!

Acts 4:12 (NLT) - “There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.”

INTERACTIVE QUESTIONS

Has everyone here accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior? If not, would you like to do so right now so that you can receive forgiveness for your sins and eternal life?

Truth #3

JESUS SAVES US SO WE CAN SERVE HIM!

Luke 1:74–75 (NLT) - “We have been rescued from our enemies so we can serve God without fear, in holiness and righteousness for as long as we live.”

  • God rescues us with intention — salvation always has a purpose!
  • Deliverance is not the end of the journey; it is the beginning of a new life.
  • We are saved so that we can serve God freely, boldly, and without fear.
  • Serving God is not meant to be a burden — it is meant to be fulfilling.
  • There are two great battles between Heaven and Hell:
The first is for your soul. Satan will do all he can to keep you from accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior.
The second is for your purpose. After you are saved, Satan will try with all his might to keep you from fulfilling your purpose.
  • Jesus came to defeat all the works of the enemy so that we could serve Him freely and without fear!

1 John 3:8b (NASB) - “The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil.”

  • When we live for what we were created for, joy, peace, and satisfaction follow.
  • Serving God is part of God’s beautiful design for our lives.

Ephesians 2:10 (NLT) - “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”

INTERACTIVE QUESTIONS

When you think about serving God, what excites you—or what feels challenging?

CLOSING QUESTION

What’s one thing your taking away from this lesson that you can apply to your life today?

GIVING

The joyous, intentional generosity that springs from a grateful heart reflects the essence of God's love and blesses both the giver and the recipient.

2 Corinthians 9:7 (NLT)

You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.”

Encourage everyone to give their tithes and offerings.
