2 Peter 1:3-7 (NLT) - 3 By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. 4 And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires. 5 In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God’s promises. Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge, 6 and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient endurance, and patient endurance with godliness, 7 and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love for everyone.
What did you learn from what we just read?
John 17:3 (NLT) - And this is the way to have eternal life—to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth.
If we have been given all the power we need to live godly lives, why do so many Christians still struggle with sin?
Numbers 23:19 (CEV) - God is no mere human! He doesn't tell lies or change his mind. God always keeps his promises.
What are some specific promises from God that help you to live a godly life?
Romans 6:6, 12 (NLT) - 6 We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. 12 Do not let sin control the way you live; do not give in to sinful desires.

What is one thing from today’s lesson that you will apply this week?
There are no real “get-rich-quick” schemes, so don’t try to hoard all you get. Generosity will lead to satisfaction and fulfillment in this life.

Greedy people try to get rich quick but don’t realize they’re headed for poverty.
